Back to Sweden today

31 July, 2010

So today we are heading home to Sweden. Since there was no play for me this weekend it is nice to be able to go back to Sweden and hang with friends instead of being stuck here in the rain and cold. The course was so nice! I really enjoy links golf and wish I could have played the weekend, but I have to wait until next time I guess.

Right now there are a few of us who are sitting in the clubhouse hanging out and talking about everything and nothing. It is fun to catch up with friends who play in Europe that I don’t get to see all that often.

I played quite well yesterday, well except for the last two holes where I had to take one unplayable, and then tried to go for the birdie on the last I put it too far and missed my next one for par. It was horrible weather yesterday afternoon. It was rainy from the second hole until the very end of the round. Sometimes during the round the rain came down pretty hard too, but it is what it is. Sometimes you get lucky with the draw and sometimes you don’t. This week was a don’t for me:)

So tonight we don’t really have anything planned, just travelling home to Sweden and hopefully have a good dinner when we get back. I am looking forward to have a few games on my home course before heading back to Phoenix. On Tuesday next week I will go see my coach, I have not seen him since last time I was home in May so it will be good with an update.

First day Royal Birkdale done!

29 July, 2010

So I had a great start to the day, was 2 under after a few holes. I still plaed good the rest of the holes, just made a few bogeys for no reason but misjudging wind around the greens. No big deal:)
It was loads of fun today even though it was cold, windy and rainy…but that is GB for you! The courses are set up for wind and it is fun to be creative with the shots.
Now Gustaf and I are heading out to town, I did not pack enough I guess:) I have started to pack light, this week too light:) when I mentioned to Gustaf that I was happy that I finally learned to pack light he kindly noted to me that there is no reason to pack light when I still have to go shop for everything on site. I guess that makes a sense… Either way, we are out for some shopping now!

I am in the British Open!

27 July, 2010

Yesterday was a good day in that I made the qualifying for the British Open. The course we played was very nice, it is called the Hillside Golf Club. The weather was less than copperating but I managed to end the round at +1 which got me a spot without having to be in a playoff.

Since there is Pro-Am all day at Royal Birkdale here today and there is no play all day if you are not in the Pro-Am then I decided to play a quick 9 holes and just to have seen parts of the course. This morning I walked the front nine to get a glimpse of the rest of the course. Tomorrow is the last practice day before the tournament starts on Thursday, so I will head out for a round of 18 holes.

The course looks awesome. There a bunkers as well as some thick grass in play and the wind will determine how agressive I can get on a few of the holes. It should be lots of fun this week. There are many of my friends on the LET who are playing this week so there is a bunch of catching up to do which is always fun!

Now I am off for some more putting practice.

Boat, sunglasses, bbq, golf and fun!

23 July, 2010

I have had so much fun this week since we got back to Sweden! A top moments are both when we were out on the water with “Lunkans” motorboat on Tuesday afternoon. It was an all day thing and there were five of us catching some waves:) This week “Öresund” (the water between south of Sweden and Denmark) have swallowed two pairs of nice sunglasses. First on Tuesday when we were going fast on the water, to make the story short Lunkans sunglasses got kicked off from him and ended up in the water, of course there was no way to find them. … read all »

In Sweden!

18 July, 2010

After a good trip we arrived to Sweden on Saturday night. The flight from London to Copenhagen was a bit delayed and so we got in a bit later than expected. I had a 30year birthday party to go to, and Gustaf was going to hang out at his parents house instead (he was not up for the 20 hours travelling and then heading out to a party and then hit the town!). So, I was dropped off at my parents house, ate a little bit and got ready for a fun night out! It was lots of fun to see Maria and some other people there. Then we headed to downtown for some dancing. I met up with a few of Gustaf’s friends and we had lots of fun. Of course, we missed Gustaf but at this point he was well asleep :)… read all »

Getting ready for Sweden

15 July, 2010

So we are going to Sweden tomorrow (Friday) and will be there for about a week before heading to GB to do Monday qualifying for the British Open. I did not get a sponsors invite for Evian Masters, not that I was counting on it at all but I had hopes until the final five spots were revealed yesterday. Bummer. It would have been great fun to get to go there again. I guess i just have to play a lot better instead of trying to get sponsors invites everywhere:)… read all »

Coffee in the sun

13 July, 2010

Yesterday was yet another day of getting things in order as well as of course, having some coffee in the 110 degree sun:), i had iced coffee yesterday though. The pic is from Press coffee which is one of our fav spots for coffee here in Scottsdale. They roast their own beans and we always get the Dethstaar (spelling!?) espresso beans.… read all »

Back in Phoenix

11 July, 2010

We got back to Phoenix last night. The travels went well, except for a few annoying instances on the plane:) but that always happens so no big deal!… read all »

Oakmont day 5, the last one:(

9 July, 2010

Today was a much better day on the golf course! I actually plaeyd quite well, too bad that I made 5 bogeys in the last 6 holes. The wind started swirling a little and it was a little tricky to figure it out and to top it off i missed three putts within 9 feet, which should not happen. I am happy that my game was better today though. Too bad that I don’t have any tournaments coming up soon. I might go to the Monday qualifier for the British Open, I am not happy about doing it but I guess I have to if I want to be a part of that tournament.… read all »
