Phoenix is hot!
14 August, 2010
So I went to practice at Moon Valley today, well I knew it was warm out, I mean…I could feel it. But nothing prepared me for getting dizzy after 2 hours even though I drank plenty of water. I guess my body is not used to the heat.
It is easy to underestimate the heat, which I did today. So I had to call it a day after two hours (I got some stuff done though) and then went home to replenish. Of course, in the afternoon I was good to go again and a visit to the gym was a must.
The past few months I have really lost lots of muscle, only now do I realize that I was actually pretty strong beginning of the season. It is diffucult to have both the energy as well as the time to put that much time in to the gym that I need in order to keep the stregnth and get stronger.
Gustaf and I had planned to go out in Scottsdale to eat tonight, but both of us were beat and we ended up at Chipotle for a fresh dinner. I guess that is what jetlag and heat does to you. We are leaving tomorrow and I have not really gotten very far with the packing yet, but if I wake up the same time as I did today then I will have plenty of time early morning (I woke up at 3a) to get the packing done. I think I will start a little bit today though. It is a bit difficult to pack for this trip as I am not sure how long I will be gone for. There are a few LPGA events but also a few LET events, that I am trying to get a sponsors invitation to. Usually when they decide for that, they decided the week or at the most two weeks before, which means that I could be gone for two weeks now, or if I get in to what I want then I will be gone for 6 weeks I think. So let’s hope for six weeks:)
Yesterday and today I have been trying to figure out what apps to get for my iPad. Of course, it is a gadget that is great with some things but not so good in other parts. One thing that I am happy about is that it is so easy to surf on the internet with, download movies as well as checking the email. As far as storing files, not so easy. So now I have downloaded apps that supposedly will help me with that, but so far only works sometimes…and I cannot seem to figure it all out. I have found some fun apps though, like a Swedish calendar, some word programs, photoprograms etc. I am still learning and if anyone of you have any hot iPad tips for me, hit me with an email!
As far as internet goes, Sweden is soooooo far ahead! It is almost impossible to get really fast internet in the US. When we lived in Sweden we had 100Mbit/sec so it was no problem with downloading movies. Right now, I am downloading a movied to the iPad…well after 15 minutes I have not even downloaded a 10th of the movie…zzz…I guess by tomorrow I will have a movie downloaded…
I am so excited to leave for Portland tomorrow. Not only will I compete again, but we will also get to see our really good friends the Mulflur family, who we stay with every year during that tournament. I first met the family when I was babysitting their sons (who are no teenagers…or almost Tommy!) in 99 or 00. We had so much fun and then when I moved down to Arizona I stopped in Portland on my drive from Seattle, and spent some time with then. Ever since then we have stayed in contact and we see each other at least once a year. So next week will really be a treat in many ways!
Since I am online downloading a movie at the same time as I am writing this on the laptop, I guess it will just slow down the downloading even more by adding a picture…so it will have to wait until next update!
